Default Se comensators?

I took my bike to the local harley shop to get my voltagr reg checked cause i was havin some chargings issues and i habe the esp on my 2012 sg. Well low and behold they changed that snd realized my shifter arm was sloppy ( the one on the transmission shaft) which i knew it was it happened shortly after i bough the bike and thy wouldnt cover it cause it wasnt actually broken. So they decided t fiz that. Well while everything was apart they put in the new se compensator which im not fond of cause i had no issues with me and from my understanding they are hit or miss. I asked them why they changed it they said well it didnt look to bad but we have seen better so we figured we would go ahead and change it for ya under the esp. So my question is how long are they lasting? Had i known they were gonna change it i wouldve paid the difference to have a baker put in it

Mine got replaced with a se compensator last year but I have only put 3000-4000 miles. So not sure of the longevity.

If its the newest gen of the SE compensator its likely better then what was on your stock from HD.

I installed the newer SE comp on my 09 with 96" motor and there has been no problems thus far in now it's 2nd riding season having 9k+ miles on it.

Default Compensator

Chances are your Compensator did need replaced if it wasn't the SE 2014 version. I've had better luck with the updated 2014, I have a 2012 Limited original comp lasted 20,000 miles, put the newer one in and have over 25 on it now and no problems or even hints of a problem. I've also installed some for others and have had better luck with the new ones but have been polishing the contact surfaces and have found they don't seem to wear or produce the metal chips as much as before, also last longer running higher revs (above 2500) and not lugging too much. I wouldn't be too upset for now til you see how much longer the new one lasts, it will be better than the stock one.

Thanks for the replies hopefully i have the luck you guys are. The stock one had a little over 31k on it and no symptoms of wear. And im usually always above 2500 rpm and never lug it. Maybe thats why ive had good luck with that one haha

Harley Formula+ oil is known to work well with the 14 and later SE comp in the primary......FYI
