Tranny Oil Change
Anyhoo..... if you overfill, just take a turkey baster, and take a little out until it is at the right level.
Does it make a difference? Yes, it does. To check the tranny oil on my bike, the bike has to be upright. One year newer, and the manual says to be on the side stand. Do it wrong, and using that turkey baster will do nothing but screw it up further.
RTFM !!
How so? I've been riding for 50 years. It's always worked fine. If you're a little over full, suck a little out, until the level is perfect.
Please explain.

So, say you have an '07 six speed, which says you check the level with the bike on the side stand. But you listen to a guy like me with an '06 five speed, which manual says you check the tranny level with the bike up right. So now, you use that turkey baster to suck out oil, leaving your bike's tranny grossly underfilled when you put it back on the side stand, where you should have checked it in the first place had you read your manual.
Get a manual for your model and year, and don't ask for answers on an internet forum full of riders who all think they are right, but are right (maybe) only for the make and model they ride. RTFM !
And if I'm wrong in my explanation above, it just proves my point! RTFM for your model and year!
If you want to really see some changes, check out the stock cam specs for the OP's '02, and my '06. They are both TC88's, but have totally different specs.

So really the turkey baster has nothing to do with it... If the guy is using the wrong info, that is the problem.
I was going to suggest a gear oil pump that you can buy at walmart for a few bucks. It's like the pump on a bottle of soap or lotion but made for gear oil, so you can fill gearboxes that are in hard to reach places. You could just stick the pump in the tranny dipstick hole and pump out the amount you need. The turkey baster would work too...
