...and instead of being blown away by the rear suspension improvement, all I could notice was how bad the front suspension now felt. Dont get me wrong, the 944s were an instant major improvement. So I started looking at the monotube, but Id spent enough money on the bike this month,(this year for that matter) and decided to try a heavier weight fork oil. I figured for 16 bucks, it would be worth a try. Changed the oil this morning and cannot get over how great it rides. Front and rear seem to be even, if that makes sense. No more nose diving in the front when braking, and the rear feels ten times better than with the stock shocks. The bike just feels more solid, all the way around. Will be able to give it a proper test in Robbinsville, a week from Monday.
For those who care, I went with the HD 944 ultra touring shock. I weigh in at 250 and have it set with one line showing for solo. For the fork oil, I used SE heavy. Both jobs were very easy, and definitely among the best mods I have made to any bike Ive owned.
