Do you mean your can turn it 1/2 way to wide open before it opens the throttle? If so, that's too much. If you mean a 1/2 inch, it might be okay. I've never done it, but it must be adjustable. Do you have a service manual?

There should be a little play from idle. You can make minor adjustments at the throttle cables right below your throttle grip, or more serious adjustments at the carb/fuel injection. Check your manual.

Service manuals are around $63.00 and are absolutely invaluable. It will pay for itself the first time you use it.........save you a LOT of $ in the long run.

you can adjust the cable closest to the rear right under the grip alittle to remove the play. Just slide th rubber cover down to expose the lock nut.

I just adjustedmine last night. Simpe as pie by using the above post instructions. Right within your cable (almost right at your throttle handle) you have 2 cables. Crank your grip open like you're giving it gas and see which ones "moves." That is the one you want to adjust.
Roll the rubber back (if your bike still has them on) loosen the little nut, then screw the other part (that the nut was up against) "out" or counter-clockwise about 2 turns. Then try your throttle grip again and see if that fixed it. keep adjusting till you like the feel. Then just tighten that little nut up that you loosened to begin with and roll the rubber cover back. You're done.

Also...some slack is needed for full turns, so try turning the bars full left and full right before locking it back down.

don't mess with it too much or you'll screw up the zero TPS value.
