Default Hot head

I had a couple of strokes I've been able to fight my way back from, mostly, and have been wearing an Arai Signet Q for the last 3-4 years to best protect what still works in the old noggin'. I really love this helmet, but my brain doesn't regulate temperature properly since the strokes, and even with all the vents (including the brow vents in my SAI face shield) I'm getting too hot. Last year I had a car full of dumb kids skidding into my side of the road around a sharp turn and ended up in someone's yard instead of letting the punks in the Honda Civic hit me. My head slammed into the ground and my investment in my helmet paid off.
Now I'm looking for the dream helmet- one that fits like my Arai, is good as my Arai, but one not as hot. Suggestions?

Too funny!

I just saw the Arai XC while doing research, how noisy is the helmet without a windshield? I prefer not to ride with mine on unless I am on a long run on the highway.

Maybe switch to a 3/4 helmet? That should give you a significant difference in air flow and cooling.

Possibly switching to a white helmet as well although while some folks swear that black or dark colors are hotter than white or light colors, I've never noticed a difference. I imagine you would be more sensitive to temperature changes than I am.

Possibilities:

- Shoei GT-Air -- said to be one the best venting helmets out there. Not cheap.

- Shoei J-Cruise -- excellent 3/4 helmet. Not cheap, either.

- Arai also makes a nice 3/4. And guess what about bein' cheap...?

Good and cheap doesn't usually go together, and I'm while I'd like to not spend a lot, I have always been a realist.
I've tried a lot of Shoei helmets and I've learned that my head doesn't fit well in their helmets.
I fell and gave myself a concussion by overreaching for something back in January and right now am not willing to chance a 3/4 helmet- too many Civics filled with stupid teenagers.
I would start soaking my helmet's head liner but I have a Sena smh-10 headset mounted in my helmet. Maybe I should get a good jacket to keep my body cooler as a means to offset some body heat.
Jacket suggestions?

Take a look at the Shark Evoline 3 ST. It is a modular helmet that is made to be worn as either a full helmet or a 3/4's helmet. I just got mine a week or so ago, coming from wearing a half helmet for years. On a trip last week thevweathervwas in the 80's and with the chin piece flipped back and the face shield up it was pretty comfortable. When it rains or gets cold put it into the full helmet configuration and you are warm and dry.

You can get the in the low $300's but Harley has a version for close to $500 if you like to pay more I got white as dark colors absorb more heat.

Nolan N44 is a very airy and strong helmet. Can't say if it will fit your noggin or not.

It comes in two flavors, the Trilogy and the Aero. The Aero flows more air, but is the European model. To get this one, you'll need to order it from a European vendor. I bought my N43 (older model) through FC Moto as an example.

I tried a lot of helmets, the Signet-Q is the only helmet that fits my head.
A light color to reflect the sun and riding with the shield cracked open helps with the heat. All helmets are hot in the Summer.

Now that temps are getting warmer, any jacket with venting should help. Mine has a liner that goes in during the winter months and comes out in the Spring. Arai makes nice 3/4 helmets with a longer face shield and extended jaw protrusions to keep your noggin' safe.
