Default Apehangers for 2016 roadking

Just visited my local shop to find out they say it will cost me 1500 to 2000 dollars to put on a set of 16 inch apes. I cannot believe that everyone out there pays that kind of money for new apes. Any help or suggestions please.

Suggestion: do it yourself.

Like the man said " do it yourself " you same money and you may even learn something. If you look elsewhere on this forum you can find a great post with lots of pictures on installing Heritage style bars on a Road king.
Most of the steps will apply.
You may have to purchase extended cables but that along with new bars from Wild ones you will save big bucks.

Do it yourself.. Plenty of good YouTube videos to walk you through it. That's how I did mine, it was my first time working on a motorcycle but I just bought the road king and it had to be done and I wasn't gonna get raped by the dealership so I started watching "law abiding biker DIY" videos.. Did my 16"apes, shocks, S&S power tuned duals, intake, and my 5k service. I've learned a lot from those vids. Saved a ton of cash and I can say I did it myself, which is the best part..

What kind of bars do you have on your bike? Like you, I have never worked on a bike. I can R&R a small block chevy and a bunch of other stuff on a car, but never put a wrench to a bike. I am a little intimidated by it.

I was too but I figured the money I saved on the bars would buy my shocks and the money I saved on those would buy my intake and so on... I never really worked on cars either but it know how to use tools and drink beer hahaha but no joke those law abiding biker vids are REALLY good step by step. The bars I got from a buddy, he had got them from The dealership, he gave me a good deal after he went with Carlini

Do some searching on Youtube, forums etc...I did mine on my '09 RKC, took my time, changed out my switch housings to chrome, extended/soldered wires, installed new braided cables, came out great if I do say so myself!

Saved me bunches of coin, go for it!!

I think anyone with a moderate mechanical ability and decent tool supply could get through Harley bolt-ons. Plenty of good videos and threads to get a play by play, but do yourself a favor and buy a factory service manual before attempting anything.
