Default Stripped primary chain drain hole

Hello everyone,

I have a used Harley Street glide 2006. I replace the stader and when I tried to put the drain plug back into the bike it just spins. I bought a helicoil kit but not sure I should use it. Any suggestions? Need help!

why not just drill the hole and tap it for a slightly bigger drain bolt. Either that or replace the inner primary. Your still gonna have to pull the inner primary off to drill the hole. Unless your good at drilling at tapping upside down holes.

I would simply go up a size and use a larger plug. Make sure it is tapped and the plug are "pipe" threads.

Wrap a bunch of plumbers tape around the plug?

That's what the previous owner did. I tried it too but doesn't tighten at all

The plug is 3/8 24.
The Harley dealer said it is the only plug they have.

I wouldn't do this. If the plug lets go you are running dry.

Go to a really good hardware store like Ace. You have to use a "pipe thread" tap as it is tapered. And the plug needs to be for "pipe threads" also. This will allow it to tighten up in the newly tapped hole.
