Change your oil when you want to or don't change it at all, I really don't care but try to stay on topic. Sheez.

In 2011, i rode the hoka hey covering 19k miles in 23 days and had to deal with this very issue on 4 occasions. In addition also had to deal with a tire change.

I left with used tires (~7000k miles).

I picked my change point, approx 4300 into ride. Called ahead had dealer obtain tires and prepared to change and to do oil and filter. Rode in about 9 am on a sat morning, was out with 3 hole change and tire mount and balance in 2 hours.

Changed again some 5k later at another dealer less than 1 hour. Engine oil and filter. (Less than 1 hour) Again 5 k later another dealer ( less than 1 hour)

In total 4 oil changes, and a tire change. Course i had to use syn 3 and formula +)

Bike didnt explode, no issues with poor workmanship and all very accomondating.

4 oil change in 23 days is a lot but was running bike 20 hours a day. Dealer network is there for a reason. Use it, all it takes is a bit of planning and calling ahead. You may also need to compromise on type of oil used but it works if needed.

I found most dealers very accomondating if you say " im on the road can you ....

Never even considered using the multi tool.

This a good point. Especially when running fast in the heat out west.

I would be curious to see oil analysis on hot trips and cold trips oil. The heat does concern me, depending on your EPA set up. Newer the bike, more concerned I would be.

When I went to AK it was mostly cool riding, until I got back and rode through MT and ND.

what I want to know is, "how can I change my oil and filter, while riding"? I really don't have time to stop, so I would love to be able to make the transfusion, while still riding. Can anybody help me out, with this?

I bet you could do a remote filter mount with a filtration bypass valve, engine running hit the bypass open the drain and suctions at the same time dump 3,5 quarts in while recovering 3.5 quarts, close drain and suction side, screw old filter off new filter on, close the bypass, pitch 3.5quart recovery bottle and used filter into the ditch and never stop at 75mph.

Back on topic, crawl under the bike and see if one of the hex wrenches in your folding kit fits the plug or not.

===================================

Heats not as much of an issue if you 1st decat headpipe (as required on newer bikes) & add Nightrider enrichement resistors to richen up fuel calibration a bit which helps reduce engine/ex temp a bit,not a ton but none the less some along with fixing lean surge & somewhat soggy lackluster throttle response too.

Then install an ultracool oil cooler (has 2 elec cooling fans) along with Wards cooling fans (twin fans targets heads & upper cyls) both @ the same time which collectively together reduced oil temp 50deg f in summer heat resulting in 5-6 significant improvements in engine perf & overall rider comfort right off the bat.

Then after doing all the above you will have a bike that performs much better in summer heat that is also cooler to ride too.

Sounds like a PIA to do but once you do all the above you have a much nicer more pleasurable bike to ride for many miles & yrs to come.

BTW,HD's stock oil cooler " without cooling fans " that effectively cool the oil sitting at stoplights or when in slow moving traffic is when hd's stock oil cooler is just about useless when needed most sitting @ stoplights & in slow moving traffic.

An oil cooler without cooling fans on an air cooled bike motor isnt very effective at cooling the oil & motor until your up to a decent cruise of more then just a couple miles esp when you have been sitting in traffic or in slow moving traffic in 85-90+ deg f summer heat.

I was riding yesterday in 96deg f heat and oil temp on my bike with the 2 above mentioned cooling mods ran 195-200deg f deg @ cruise most of the day hitting 215deg 1x when cooling fans kicked on in oil cooler which cooled the oil back to 195degf & shut down never going on again with oil temp not going past 200deg f again @ cruise too for the rest of the day.

Then in moderate/avg stop & go traffic hitting a few stoplights in a row along with a few stints of slow moving traffic between a few lights oil temp maxed @ 225-228deg f never hitting 230 deg f on the gauge in 96deg f summer heat.

Motor & riders both appreciate the cooling running oil & motor.
