Default Target Tune?

I currently have the Power Vision and really like it for what I feel in the seat. Will the Target Tune improve the tune the PV has already created and maintain a good tune in different climates and altitudes. I ride in a lot different temps and elevations throughout the year. Sometimes the bike feels as it does not perform as well as others. Will the TT make corrections so I don't have to run an auto-tune with the PV as often? Thanks.

There are some pretty heated posts going on about this in the dyno room right now. A lot of various opinions about this. Seems the narrow band O2 sensors are doing a good job under most conditions.

I added Target Tune to my PV during the winter.

I can say it runs better than before, but I also did a cam upgrade and heads at the same time so I can't compare the two.

I've pulled logs and viewed in MLV and so far my VE's are tracking on top of each other.

I just ran the basic auto tuning 3 times this week and it is excellent. I can't imagine another 200 bucks thrown at it could improve it any better.

Basic Power Vision tunes only your part throttle and Cruise, with TT you get to also tune the upper RPM range and full Throttle, in real time. Let that sink in for awhile.

With basic Power Vision, some folks have a few tunes saved from auto tune sessions, for use in different seasons or conditions. Target tune makes changes in real time and throughout the complete calibration. With TT you dont even run auto tunes.

I have read you can run auto tunes with TT then it will maintain the tune it generates.

Using target tune allows the bike to stay in closed loop most of the time. I found that the bike ran better throughout the powerband, but what really stood out
for me was the throttle response and increased torque below 2000 rpms, that would be from a standing start. This is also the part of the powerband that dynos never show
on their readout. It just made the bike so much more fun to ride.

That is true. When I bought mine I asked Fuel Moto about the auto tune function, The function is really moot, because TT hits the tune as your riding anyway, you could run auto tune and save the map but there would be no point.

Maybe I misunderstand the way it works, but it would seem a Target Tune auto tune session could be very beneficial...

As I understand it:

Target Tune (TT) maintains very accurate closed-loop control of the engine, to the parameters of the tune map. It doesn't change or adjust the map, just exercises better adherence to the map loaded in the ECM because of the use of wide band O2 sensors v OEM narrow band O2 sensors. Because of the use of wide band O2 sensors, a larger portion, if not all, of the map is closed-loop v partial closed-loop and open-loop.

So, if you use TT for an auto tune, it is using the better efficiency of the wide band O2 sensors to dial in the VE tables of the current map. Creating a new map that is dialed in to your particular engine. This auto tune session will be better than an OEM basic auto tune because it is using the wide band O2 sensors to dial in the map. I would assume (oops, I made an assumption!) this tune would be more comparable to an auto tune pro session...

Now you have a better dialed in map. You download it to your ECM and now the TT will maintain a very accurate closed loop control of the engine, to the parameters of the better map...

If you start with a canned map (dyno tune would be a different story) for your bike/mods, it would seem that a TT auto tune session would yield better results than a non-TT, basic auto tune session....

It's possible that since the TT is just "converting" the signals of the wide band O2 sensors for use by the OEM ECM, that some of the efficiency of wide band O2 sensors is lost in the translation.... I don't know..

I'd like to better understand the TT process, let me know what I am missing...
