a couple wraps of black electrical tape around the bars should do the trick.

Mine has rubber in both the upper and lower jaw. When I first put it on it didn't move. Now I can't get it to tighten enough to hold a 20 oz bottle it water. Can't physically tighten it any more without breaking it. The rubber is still in the jaws and seems the same as when I bought it. I'd like to get it secure and then I was planning to get a 21 oz Hydro Flask or something similar.

If you are using the same holder as in the OP's photo, the 21 oz. Hydro Flask will be loose in the holder. The 2 arms don't grasp the bottle with any tension and I think on a good bump, you will lose the expensive bottle.

Mine is on left bar and part of the lower clamp rests against the wires from the switch housing. No movement for me. But I would like!e something more robust that could hold something larger than the standard water bottle.

I am the OP. Good info about the Hydro Flask. I didn't know it would be loose in this type of holder. On the bright side I may have figured out something to make it stay put. I cut a 1" wide x about 4" long piece of the rubber liner out of a fire hose and used that between the bar and clamp. It seems pretty solid. I'll see what happens and go from there.
