Bike is a 15 Ultra air cooled, slip ons and high flow with Power Vision tuner, solo seat, no TP. It was rock solid.

I did feel like it was running out of guts at 105 mph and would probably climb to 115 but take a long time. I ran it up to 105 several times, closed the gap on the rabbit and backed off to 90.

Someone asked about milage. Did not checkout yet, but the Range dropped from 220 to 30 in 110 miles.

Safety, yes it is not as safe as speed limit. Training colts is not as safe as training puppies, eating steak is not as safe as eating carrots, going out 50 miles in the Gulf fishing is not as safe as sitting by the pool.

I am with you there. Isn't the inherent danger part of the allure? If

I run 90'ish on I-10 when I run 1500/24 Ironbutts and on 85mph toll roads here in the Austin area.

I did it on a run to Atlanta a while ago. I saw a nice blacked out Chevy SS come up on me quick, so I punched up to 90-95 or so, and he fell in line. Soon, I had pack all following me (23 south to 985). My bike didn't miss a beat.

How do you guys get your cruise control to hold at anything over 85 mph? Mine kicks out and wont hold for anything higher.

Phoenix to Boston on I-90 two of us hit major rain in upstate NY. We tucked in behind a Greyhound bus and rode 20 feet from his back bumper for most of a tank of gas at 85. There's an air pocket in the slipstream that kept the worst of the rain and wind off us. The driver knew we were there and why. He'd flash his lights from time to time to let us know he was slowing down for traffic or whatever. We needed a couple of stiff drinks when we got to Bean town but it was a wild ride.

Did 95 for about 60 miles heading to Sturgis on 06 Ultra, 2 up, fully loaded. Did 126 for 25 miles in my camaro when I was stationed in Sicily heading to Taromena from Catania. Got passed by an Alfa Romeo GTV6 doing probably 150.

When I am running roads west of me - US 90 from Del Rio to Alpine and Interstate 10 from about Junction to Fort Stockton, 80-90 MPH extended cruises are not that uncommon. Kind of enjoy them. When our West Texas winds kick in, then I bring it down to the 70s.
It should be noted the posted speed limit for Interstate 10 is 80 starting about Junction and continuing to nearly El Paso (about 600 miles).

meh

Just got back from an unsuspected trip to my nephew's funeral. Took the bike as my tribute to him as years ago I took him camping and he loved it.

Traveled from Cody to Billings, MT, then on to Oshkosh, WI. I try to set my speed so half the other vehicles pass me. Held anywhere from 80 to 90 +/- following I90 from Billings to Tomah, WI. 5 days riding and 1 day layover in WI, 2,606 miles. 2 up fully loaded.

First night didn't realize our tour bag was overloaded and was top-heavy due to rushed packing. Dropped the bike turning around in a parking lot first night out. I cracked a couple ribs and wife broke a couple bones in her foot from the bike falling on her. Surprisingly no bike damage. Corrected the loading problem next day and put on 650 miles. Don't have a radio, fairing, cruise.

Encountered high winds, rain/hail (some was quarter size) just kept riding, 101 degree heat. What we didn't do was worry about buffeting, the front wheel falling off (remember that thread?), what gas was available, sliding off the seat, etc..... It's a Harley, best bike we ever had, it'll do what you need - just ride the SOB!

Anyways back on track... 2,606 miles, 80-90 mph, used 66.9 gallons, Ttl avg was 39 mpg. Had a blast and loved cranking the miles on the interstate.

Ride on everyone!
