Default HD Fork mounted wind deflectors

After much research here on the site and in other places, I decided to purchase a set of the Harley Davidson fork mounted wind deflectors ( part # 57400146A) to reduce or eliminate the buffeting I am experiencing on my 2015 Street Glide Special. I purchased the fangs and installed them Saturday. The looks of the fangs on the bike are not terrible. I can’t see them when I am riding so I can deal with the looks . Riding the bike yesterday I noticed the wind from under fairing was reduced noticeably and the buffeting was better.

I installed the fangs per the instructions and information I found online, with the curve of the wing going forward. This is correct?
I did notice there is a new wind noise since adding the fangs. This is probably normal and I can deal with the noise. I did notice there is a gap between the turn signal and the fairing now. I assume that is where part of the noise is coming from. Is there something, a spacer maybe that I need to install to fill this gap? If so, could someone give me the part number because I can’t find anything on it?

Also, I noticed the heat come from the engine and exhaust has increased somewhat since installing the wings. I can’t say for sure how much but it has increased. I rode to work this morning with an outside air temperature of approximately 85 degrees and the heat increase was noticeable. I assume the wings block some air to the motor but is this normal? Has anyone else noticed this? Should I be concerned about the temperature increase harming the engine? Did I install the wings incorrectly?

Also during my research I found some folks have installed a wind deflector made for the Road Glides on the Street Glides. I found two part numbers on these. One for the pre-Rushmore models (part #57000063). Someone on the forum has installed these and they were happy with the results. I also found the part for the Rushmore bikes, (part # 57000510). The difference in the two Road Glide air deflectors is noticeable in the pictures. The newer part has a 90 degree turn that the older version doesn’t have. Has anyone tried the newer version on a Street Glide? If so did it work? Did it hit when the forks are turned? Has anyone tried both of these on a Street Glide? Does one work better than the other?

Thanks in advance for any information and opinions,
Kevin

I think you have them backwards. I only run mine in cold weather. Not sure what deflectors u speak of but I have the adjustable and love them when open the pull more air in. Have not had the fangs on with them yet. The wind splitter windshield works great for buffeting control due to being wider.

Should be installed with the curve or "cup" facing forward if that makes sense. So it should act as a "scoop" to channel the air upwards/

I had the fangs on my 2012 SG but removed them because of the extra heat. I don't think that there is an issue with engine damage just the inside of your thigh damage. They definitely helped with buffetting but too hot for me.

All of your surmises are correct. You have them installed correctly; and, yes, they do cause you to feel more engine heat, but they do greatly reduce the buffeting.
I'm not familiar with the ones for the Road Glide.

I just recently installed JE Custom Accents wind deflectors to my 16 SG. Talk about night and day. I wear a full face helmet and the wind that was coming up from below was intolerable over 50 mph, now that wind is gone. I don't feel warmer but time will tell.

Curve of the wing going forward?????????????
Both sides are curved, picture the cupped side being forward like a previous post.
I don't remember a gap by the signal, do you have a picture?
The Harley fork mounted deflectors do a great job getting rid of buffeting, but I noticed added heat by my right leg. I took mine off and am dealing/experimenting with other wings, exhaust insulation and taller windshield to get less wind on my head but more wind on the engine.

They work great for me and I do like the looks, adds a bit more of a retro look. I since removed them since I believe they are causing my engine to over heat and start pinging exesively when loading the engine up into a head wind. My engine runs great otherwise and is not running excessively lean. I replaced them with the adjustable fairing deflectors which seem to provide a similar cure for the buffeting. I'm leaving on a trip next week to give them a good test. I do miss the retro look of the fangs though.
