Default lowering blocks

Anybody here used or use lowering blocks on the rear of there bike I would like the pros and cons. I bought a set and just not sure about them. Are they safe. The ones I got go from 1" to 3" but when I installed them the side of the fender is about 1/4" from the side wall of tire. The rear tire is really offset towards the pulley side.Only about 1/8" between side of pulley and swingarm 2006 Electra Glide Classic

I bought a pair from Black-Path, After opening Package things didn't look right and I called their customer support. Turns out it won't work on my 15 RGS, they haven't made any as yet that will work. Talking to HD they will tell you NO. If your goal is to be more flat footed HD recommends a low profile seat. I have read other forums and people have done it to other bikes and they like it. Don't know if that helps.

Billet aluminum blocks are all I use or recommend for heavy touring bikes. The last set I bought are Pingel. I think Drag carries them. the steel blocks are cheaper but I have seen major problems on the touring bikes, as in freak wobbles just riding down the road. I also would not be going more than 1" lower.

Not a fan, seen bikes with wiring harnesses shredded from the rear tire rubbing against the top of the fender.

I've used them, they lower the bike but it does so by changing the angle of the rear shock/spring. Not a good ride but it helped me decide if I wanted to lower the bike.

07 EGC , had lowering blocks on it when i bought it , 3-4 months later, I'm replacing the rear wiring harness. Removed the blocks and the bike handles way better. Its been a year and no regrets.

I warned a buddy against them for that reason. Change the angle. You change to shocks ability to do what it was designed to do. He put them on for about 20 miles. That's all it took for him to rip them back off.

Get a lower seat. Lower the front an inch.

Others have a different opinion on them. I have not used them first hand. But have seen first hand someone hate them.

The LA Choppers 1" lowering blocks do not change the angle of the shock, and as far as I know, are the only kit that doesn't. Just an option.

Not a fan of the blocks as well. I changed the shocks front and rear to lower my King, and a seat mod to get me more flat footed. No handling issues, except I scape the foot boards a little more now.

I think I post this link every time I see a thread about those lowering blocks. Only thing they are good for is expensive paper weights. They do not belong on any Harley whatsoever. An '08 or earlier especially so due to the tire absolutely rubbing the wiring harness and fender. An '09 and later can get by with a little more overtravel of the tire but can still rub the fender.
