After Taking my 2007EG to the dealership, and being told 3 out of the 4 items I wanted looked at were "NORMAL" AND they still wanted 250.00 to change oil I took it home and did my own work. I just finished the squealing brake problem. No more noise. So last fixthatI need help with. I had the front lowered ( I have a short inseam) Allen @ Mean city fixed the seat but when I hit a bunp in the road sounds like the front forks Either extend and make a sharp banging noise or when they bottomed out they bang.I have a lil leather bag hanging under the bar (came from my sportser) I didnt want to get rid of. The forks hit so bad it dented my fender HD just said it should nt have been there and thats Normal cuz they are lowered so the travel is not as far.So I found that HD makes a Extra heavy duty fork oil, Think I should service them with it? I'm a liscened Aircraft mech so none of this is too hard just new. I have the service Manual So far things are getting fixed slowly. Oh I am going to a new dealership its just aliitle farther away. Thanks youall this is a great forum
I run the Extra Heavy Duty Screamin Eagle fork oil, and have no problems with it. I weigh ~185lbs. What do you carry in your bag? Could the noise be coming from that bag??? I lowered mine as well, and have no noise issues. I ran the Extra Heavy Duty Screamin Eagle fork oil, just to be sure thatI wouldn't bottom out.
that damn cool looking fork bag scratched up my Sporties front fender also! Just threw it away this last weekend. Damn thing scarred up my Heather!
Saw a guy would put a bell under there also, warned him about it and he just laughed. Well low and behold saw him a month later and the bell was missing? Didn't want to ask so just looked at front fender... nice divot!
I came to the realization early on that in Harley dealerships the word 'normal' means ,we don't know what's wrongor we don't care what's wrong.Heavier fork oil will definitely stiffen up the front end for you.

No room to hang anything under there. I saw a RK fender that was dented by a gremlin bell hanging from the tri-bar and the front end had not been lowered. Better mount the bag somewhere else.
