When I picked up this 2012 Road King I was of the impression stage one had been done. The air breather cover is stock with a stock filter, but no backing plate. The exhaust is screaming eagle with baffles. To me that would not be stage one equipment would it? Again I've owned many bikes but this is first HD.
Also, have others felt the sound is good when removing the baffles from screaming eagle mufflers? I'm assuming they are hard to get out? If baffles are removed that wouldn't require a re-tune would it? The bike is too quiet for me right now.
Well they do have a stage 1 A/C set that uses the original cover, minus the back plate to allow for more air. As for the pipes being screamin eagle's sounds like he added those.
Post a pic of your pipes and I'm sure someone in here has come across them and may be able to help you on removing the baffle or packing.
It should run OK if a tune was all ready done and you just remove the baffles or packing. But each bike is different. Good luck man
Enjoy your bike man many of mods to be done, and plenty of time.

You have what you have, what you call it is immaterial.
Generally stage 1 is AC+mufflers+headers. If you want better performance, you'd probably want to get new headers, generally 2-1 provide the most gains (even if minor on an otherwise stock engine), but there are quality 2-1-2 solutions from reputable vendors like Fuel Moto, Fullsac.
I got a Stage 1 setup by the dealer prior to purchase. It included new headers and mufflers (I chose Cobra), a Stage 1 oiled air filter (stock housing), and a HD tune.

If you got the dealer download, you got taken advantage of. The dealer download doesn't do anything for performance.
