Trading in a 2016 Indian Chief Vintage(RED) for the new S.G. Special. T
hinking RC components slip-ons,exclaliber eclipse black, saddle bag guards, rider backrest, and small luggage rack. Also taking off the rear shifter and putting an extended brake arm. VELOCITY RED SUNGLO. Gad to see bike only went up $500, thought they might hit it harder because of the new engine. Glad I had the Indian, out of my system now, time to get back to business.
If you don't mind my asking, what sort of financial beating are you taking on the Indian trade in? You don't have to give me actual numbers, you can just approximate with something like "Not too bad" to "Savage!"

Hmmm, why are you tradin' already?
Grew tired of the antiquated look?
You seem to change bikes like people change underwear, no pun intended.
There is always something to be improved on.
I rented a new Chief Vintage just like that for a week here in the DC area on my quest to find my next bike. At first i was STOKED about the looks, I love cool vintage stuff and history.
The Thunderstroke 111 motor was MUCH stronger than my 90k mile 88cui Electra Glide. The trans was pretty good, it clunked going into gear and I had the occasional hard to get 2nd gear (no real biggie). The bike did not ride all that well fully loaded, it could get harsh on the back roads IMHO.
I oddly found that by the end of the week the over the top retro look did wear on me. It is not a bad bike by any means and I am GLAD I rented one, but it was just not me in the end. It seemed more of a novelty item. I guess I spent too many years with Harley and have seen them refined over the years and appreciate the greatness of my 2005 Electra Glide compared to my first Harley, the used 1967 FLH.
That combined with having a Road King for work then an Ultra I may have a tainted view.
