Picked up my 2017 limited today and was surprised to find no CB or tool kit. Will cost $700 to get back to what has been standard equipment on my last 3 Limiteds. Wonder how they expect us to communicate going forward? Found the new lower idle speed to be too low.
CB is certainly a dying technology. Last couple local haul companies that I have worked for didn't use CB radios. I still keep my hopped up cobra cranked up! Never had one on a bike but I do use one of those newer Bluetooth wireless setups in my helmet that allows communication with other bikes but it certainly doesn't have the range of a good CB. The toolkit seems odd to not be there though...
A tool kit is like a spare tire, nice to know it is there but hope you never need it. I used mine to change a headlight bulb on a trip and adjust a binding throttle twist grip after the bike fell over. For guys who never get their hands dirty, it is a spare part.

I'm surprised that you were surprised. You bought a new bike and didn't bother to check out options or to find out what it came with and without?
I've used my tool kit exactly zero times in 2-1/2 years
The included tool kits I've seen look nearly useless anyway.
I put together a fairly extensive kit out of extras I had around the garage. I've never used it on my bike but several friends and a couple of strangers have benefited from me having it.

Sounds like a dealership salesperson's wet dream.
The tool kit I can understand. But missing the CB, especially if it's something you use, is harder to understand.
Neither would matter to me though. The tool "kits" have always been nearly useless. And the CB on my bike has never been used. I much prefer the wireless headsets and some of them can reach out a couple of miles. More than enough for group riding with less interference and BS and more privacy.
