So my 2002 RK has a 21 inch wind shield. This driving me crazy...at highway speeds the buffeting lifts my shirt collar up around my chin. Its ****ing irritating as all hell.
Everything I have read talks about helmet issues. Not T shirt trying to be ripped off you.
So I cant be the only one.....
Fix.....shorter wind shield?
I am 5 11 and cant see over the top of the current one.

You may want to give these a try. Say they're made for Road Glide only but for the cost, I ordered up a set and tried them on my 12 Ultra Classic. They install real easy...just snap on and fit pretty good. Only come into a bit of contact at full lock with the wind deflectors on the outside edge of the batwing. They're plastic and flexible so no big deal. With a Road King there may be no contact at all. I also have the HD fork mounted ones (not crazy about the look) and these work just as good and are less visible. According to HD the fork mounted ones don't fit my UC as well because of the lowers. Wrong...they do fit with about 1/4" clearance at full lock. Again, these are plastic & relatively inexpensive so they may be worth a try.

You need to install LOWERS on the front forks that will get rid of most if not all of the buffeting.
Has same exact buffeting issues on a prior bike with a windscreen only and no faring & installing lowers did the trick.
BTW,make sure they arent too short in an attempt to keep them from mucking up the look of the bike because if they are too short it significantly reduces their effectiveness/ability to reduce the buffeting your trying to get rid of.
I don't believe a shorter shield will fix your problem, but you certainly need to be able to see over it, so either shorten that one or replace it. I've modified stock shields using a fretsaw a file and a lot of patience!
Chrome lowers or "fangs" will fix the problem---guaranteed. They work so well that when I used to travel and rent a Road King, I'd bring some with me and put them on the rental.
