According to my boss. It's a Glide and she has been a passenger on a wide variety of bikes over the years. BMW and Wings have too much plastic to suit me.

On this HD forum, you'll obviously hear HD recommendations. Depending on your wife's proportions and stature, that will decide which one she's most comfortable on. One MAJOR advantage of the Harley is the wide array of aftermarket available, when you guys start doing some serious touring you may want to add this, replace that, etc. Much more stuff available. For serious long-distance, nothing beats a frame-mount fairing. If that means Gold Wing, Road Glide or LT, that's up to you to decide. With the wing, you're limited to a handful of replacement seats for example. For the RG, Mustang alone has over a dozen choices! Now add Corbin, HD, others, and you have choices. On the roadie, you can get a detachable King Tourpak with backrest for the motel trips, and then take it off and put on the detachable sissy bar/backrest/rack for camping trips where you would want to strap stuff sideways and down low. Camaraderie is again, up to your individual personalities. Good people in Harley groups, Wing groups, Beemer groups, Guzzi groups, you name it.

I have had two wings and one Ultra, and Liz says the Ultra is much more comfortable for her. The back rest holds her in better, and she just feels safer on a bike that makes some noise, rather than the silent wings. Doesn't really matter though, I'm not going back to a wing.

wife wouldn't even ride my softail ('03 Heritage Springer). She didn't want me to trade in my bike ..... well until she sat on an ultra. Then it was 'trade it.... I wanna ride'. that is how the story goes. I was up very last night doing work for my company on the computer. I didn't get to bed till after midnight. And today is my 'work from home day'. she awakened me early (not knowing when I came to bed) and said... lets go for a ride. Granted my wife is 4' 10" and 102lbs soaking wet ... so from a comfort perspective almost any saddle works for her. We just have the stock one on my '07 right now (although I'm thinking about the Zepplin as I do have a lil cig-burn on the saddle .... from my stupidity). She love to ride and looks awesome geared up. It is an experience I tell ya. She likes goin to the HD store for gear cuzzzzzzzz everyone knows her there and it is more of a 'community' there kinda like the old sitcom Cheers. There is actually a little more to riding than just getting on a bike. You actually really feel part of a much larger support family when you ride an HD.

Gotta ditto the employees at Harley stores make a difference. The metric stores have parts department personnel handling clothes and accessories in addition to parts for everything from generators to watercraft. In most cases they're not out of the Clearasil stage yet! What do you recommend on a 500 mile a day road trip? I dunno, never been on one! Is the usual, if they're honest.

I can only say go with the Ultra. I had a 05 Dyna Wide Glide andthe misses andIdid a 900 plus mile trip to a rally in Darango COwith a stock seat. The misses was not happy at all but to her credit didn't say a word. I traded it in for a Eglide Classic just a couple months ago and now she is making plans for trips she wants to take. A complete 180. I have to agree with the others, the misses will be very pleased with a ultra. My wife even beats the kids off the ride list so she can ride. See that is another part. My two boys were very leary to get on the dyna and now they fight to see who gets to ride on the Eglide. So for my family, it was something that changed how they look at riding. They all love the "queen seat" as the wife calls it. Hope this helps in making a choice. Plus....who wants to ride an "electric" sounding bike like the goldwing? I tell the boys to roll down the window so we can listen to the electric bike when we pass a goldwing. You can't hear them. hahaha.... Remi
Ditto - family didn't get near my RK, the Ultra? can't keep them away. Never made so many trips to "wal-mart" since the kids decided to ride.

Electraglide (I like the classic but thats just me)
The wife refused to ride the ol chopper but when I brought home the EG, she won't stay off the thing.
She did ride with the neighbor on his wing and said she did'nt like it.

my wife says after being on my old wing and the Road Glide she prefers the glide but it was close, But she did say out of the wings she liked our old 1500 alot better than the 1800's, the 18's are a stiffer suspension and she felt the road more, she napped alot on the 15, now on the Roadie she is poking me in the ribs to go a bit faster or gives me the i cant hear anything thump so ill barks the pipes a bit

I looked at the Wings alot before deciding to buy a StreetGlide. It was my personal choice to get something a bit more sporty. For comfort, I'd say the Wing is better. However, I recommend the UC. When you buy a Harley, you and your's will get so much more than a great bike.

I've been to Harley and Honda (mostly Gold Wing) rallies and hands done I choose to hang out with the Harley crowd.

On this forum, you will hear nothing but.. GET AN ULTRA. on the wingnut forum.. get a glod wing (mispelled on purpose), on the bmw forum.. you will hear that you need their bike.

I've had metric bikes in the (distant) past. I had a yamer bagger, and kaw 1000's (when that was the largest). IMO, there is NOTHING to compare to the Ultra.A wingnut might be smoother, but it's mostly plastic and has no soul. BMW... Break My Wallet. Nuf said. The Ultra is so comfortable, that my wife almost falls asleep on long rides. There is just something that can not be explained about Harley's. Itjust has to be experienced. The raw, brute power that you feel while you are waiting for the light to change... the feeling of the back end squating down from the torque as you take off.. the solid "CLUNK" as you KNOW you have shifted into another gear. Other bikes just have no personality.. IMO.

In my experiences, wingnuts are generally a great bunch of people, and I would ride with them anytime, anywhere. beamer's on the other hand has been a different story. I have met a few really nice beamer riders, and then I've met those that are really stuck up.

Harley has a great sense of family. Check out a dealer, see if you can attend one of their HOG meetings as a guest, and meet/talk with the people. Hands down, Harley riders give back more to society through fund raising poker runs, parades, passing the hat, volunteering and other means. We have a good time doing it.

Good luck in your quest. You willNEVER be disappointed if you choose the Ultra.
This post says it all perfectly!!
