J&M replacement speakers
do you know of anyone who has used an amp in the Harley for a while ? ,,,,,,
do they have any troubles ? ,,,,,, are the amps dependable in the somewhat hot fairing environment ? ,,,, do they have any chaqrging issues with the bike after the amp is installed ? ,,,,,
it will takea bit of R&D to answer those types of questions on my side ,,,,, might get to it by August I hope ,,,,,
but I would certainly be interested in any experiences the readers on this form have already had with installing additional amplifiers ,,,,,

my somewhat informal research tells me that the majority of the riders do NOT want to add another ampifier to their audio system and deal with the extra heat produced, current draw on the electrical system and potential for RF noises and squeals when transmitting on the CB ,,,,, that is why I designed the J&M/Harley speakers to FIRST get the maximum amount of sound out of the stock audio system ,,,, thenstill be tough enoughto hande an aux amplifier if the customer installed one ,,,,,
having said that, if I find a large market for an additional amplifer for the Harleys ,,,, J&M will certainly offer one ,,,,
and buy a set, as well as one of their half helmets equipped with headset, I just never had a chance to get back there. I'd definitely like to order a set, but I'm very leary about installing anything electrical on my own.

I haven't replaced my stock speakers yet, but when I do, I probably won't replace with Hogtunes OR J&M. I'm an audiophile and I want the very best possible sound. I've never bought $100 speakers in my life. The first thing I always do (boats, cars, whatever) is to replace head unit, replace the stock speakers with top-line Polk Momo's or similar, add an MTX or Alpine amp, and a 10" sub (or two).
I'm tempted to go Hawg Wired, as their stuff seems more top-end. But I can tell you that I don't think your stock unit will be damaged by speakers rated at 5.5ohms at 1000 hz. If you're worried about it, get Hogtunes amp. Then you're not even using the stock head unit amp, and you're sure they're compatible.
Not to hijack, but does anyone have a truly amazing audio setup on their bagger? $100 speakers just aren't going to do it for me.
