Default Champion spark plug #810

Is the Champion spark plug #810 a suitable replacement for my 2013 Ultra Classic?

Read your service manual. On mine, there is an exact looking NGK as the Harley plug. However the ohm resistor is about half what Harley plug is. On mne, that is how the knock sensor works. So if you really get down on it, you need this system to work. Not but a few dollars different. And truly, a Harley FI bike is easy on plugs. They will easily go 50K.

Stay with OEM plugs for reasons just stated!

FYI,if i am not mistaken Champion mfg's spark plugs for HD.

To ans your question yes champions 810 is proper std plug for your 2013 HD ,gap to .040" per Champion online app cht .

The std HD / champ-810 plugs lasted 20k miles in my HD including having to reset gap @ 10k miles due to gap erosion.

Use a little anti seize on the sparkplug threads to ensure you dont have any issues removing them @ a later date esp if you choose to try dbl plat or iridium plugs that last a lot longer thus will be in the motor much longer before removing.

I'm running HD's dbl plat plugs that are = to champions 7972 dbl=plat plugs.

Below i listed all plugs avail from Champion for your / HD TC motors including better longer lasting choices then the std 810 plugs your asking about.

But i don't if they fit HD's new M8 4 valves per cyl motor that was just released.

Scott

* STD PLUG-810/TYPE-RA8HC/GAP-.040"
LAST MAX OF 20K MILES INCLUDING RE-GAPPING 2 10K MILES DUE TO GAP EROSION.

* DBL PLATINUM PT#7972 / TYPE-RA8PHP/GAP .040"
LAST 60K TO AS LONG AS 100K MILES IN AUTOMOTIVE APP.

* IRIDIUM PT#9701 / TYPE-RA8WHP/GAP-.040"
LASTS OVER 100K MILES IN AUTOMOTIVE APP & TAKES LESS POWER/CURRENT TO FIRE.

* POWER-SPORT PT#8812-1 / TYPE-8812 /GAP-.040
SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR POWER SPORT / MOTORCYCLE APPS.

i got one bike, that almost refuses to run if it has HD plugs in it. it sputters, fuel economy drops, surges. just plain acts up. change plugs and it runs like new.

it likes champion or autolite plugs. been that way for years. bike is an 04.

what could explain this? never had this with any other HD bike.

Maybe the resistance value in the wires and coil circuit are off enough to make the OEM ones not run right? 04 is a long time for ignition cycles, not to mention weather cycles?

After 13000 miles this year I cleaned the Harley plugs with sand paper. They where only out of spec by .001 so I left them that way , figuire I'll put new in the spring that's in the cupboard waiting.

That is a very bad idea. The grit can fall down in the ventilation area that has carbon and oil wet. Stick and later fall into the cylinder. In older manuals, there is a warning to not sandblast plugs. If you must, hit the the tip with a plug file , re-gap and install. Keep in mind, you no longer have a crush-washer or the plating on the threads.
If there is anything wrong with a plug, the bike will throw a code. Just replace is better

I throw a new pair of RA8HC in every spring....for the couple bucks they cost, good insurance to me.
