Baker compensator
Well folks it's that time for me. My 2007 Electra Glide will hit 40,000 miles this week. I have decided to replace the compensator with the Baker compensator. I'm looking for the least expensive place to buy one. The local shop says $500 plus labor. Between parts, oil, gasket and labor I'm looking at $739. If I had the torque wrenches and a tap and die set I'd do it myself. Is there a place to look that's a better price than $500? Please provide a link if there is. I was also told I'd be better off going with a solid gear in the place of the compensator. I've heard that this is harder on the engine. Any input is appreciated.

You won't want a solid comp - the current comp is there for a darned good reason! Baker are an HDF sponsor, who may offer members a discount, but these things are not made by the truck load, so don't be surprised if the price is the same wherever you look.
