No, I actually had a good friend weld it for me.. I did all the dirty work. He ran the amp peddle with his knee. This is a "gravy" weld compared to some of the welds they make building our boilers.
I have removed cat on a few touring models ... I did remove exhaust from bike ... But if you take all the necessary precautions to protect bike , (as you did), it sure can save on labour time .... For anyone with a good bike lift , (for ease of working), it certainly would be the way to go ... I can see you did the work on the ground , just saying ....

Have a Pit Bull lift a home. I didn't feel like hauling it to the shop. I am into easy. There was not one thing hard or difficult involved in this project. But you do need the correct tools and a good welder and my friend is a good welder.
