Default ? About 2007-2008

I've been looking for a new ride and been looking at all years up to 09, seem to be finding a lot of 04-06. Now I'm wondering if it would be wort going to a 07 or 08 with the 103 and 6 speed what are the opinions out there. Thanks I've had 09&13 and they were not as comfy for either she or me, and they, especially the 13, was too hot for Florida, I know that will sound crazy to some, but, imho, true. Just would like some feedback on 07-08? Thanks Oldsdude

My 2007 was a great ride. But if you can go with the 2009 or newer frame.

There are quite a few changes in Harley's in the years you mentioned. 04-06 have the 88 ci motor and 5 speed tranny except the 06 Dyna which was the first one to get a 6 speed. In 07 the 96 ci was introduced with the 6 speed tranny. In 08 Harley went to Brembo brakes on the touring and a 6 gal tank. 09 was the new touring frame but still had the 18mm O2 bungs etc etc. I had an 08 Electra Glide Ultra. Basic Harley air shocks etc but a nice ride and better braking with the Brembos

i had an 07 not a fan, somewhat bastard years. first year for anything means trouble imo. i think the 02-06 would be a more reliable ride after doing the chain tensioners.

My '08 with the 96 was hot above 90 degrees. When I installed FM micro tuner is was very tolerable in the summer heat. End of this summer I took the tuner off and in the process broke the plug on the rear injector. After replacing it and running completely stock it hasn't felt hot at all, but the high temps have been in the mid 80's.

in 07 the key fob is really nice not having to fumble with remote. the 6 speed but had to change rear sprocket cause little too tall.

the whole cam plate fuel pump thing was upgraded. mine was a 96ci originally.

but now you have to deal with that compensator, auto tensioner, and ipb ordeal.. so a little earlier bike and save some money unless thats not a big deal to address on your own.plus is still have the cable throttle, solid wheel bearings, and simple HD breaks lol

Thanks, I don't want to send extra for anything, in fact one of my favorite bikes was my '96 with the taller frame, the problem I'm having is there just is not a huge difference in price here in Florida, I mean if you have to pay$6-7 for a decent up to '01 or so, and 8-9 for a , 5 or 6 looking at 9k mi. 06 loaded with crap for 10, then maybe a 7 or 8 with more miles at the same price is a better way to go?? What do you all feel a reasonable miles to buy at, I am really amazed at how many 60-100k mile bikes there are here in Florida. Too many retirees with nothing to do but ride!LOL I have been looking for bikes under 25 k miles, but?
I do appreciate all your input, this is a great forum. Thanks, dude

Here are the major differences from 07 to 08 touring:
- 07 touring introduced the 96ci motor, indroduced 6 tranny, retained 5 gal gas tank, pre-09 frame
- 08 touring, 96ci motor, retained 6 spd tranny, indroduced 6 gal gas tank, introduced brembo brakes, same pre-09 frame, different wheel axel sizes, and other small differences.

I have an 08 Road King and love it. I also have had a 10 Limited and now a 13 Limited. I jump back and forth all the time and honestly, I can't tell any real significance in the frame. The rear end in the 08 will wobble a little in high speed long sweeper turns if hits a bump but no big deal to me. I've felt the same in my 13 just not as bad. The 08 has been very dependable and went 112,000 miles before I opened up the engine for the first time and that's only because I had the money in the bank. I could have road it to the shop if I had a ride back. The 08 also has the throttle by wire. Don't be afraid of the 08 just because of the year model.
