I have a 2008 FLHTCU (Electra Glide ultra classic).
Factory Harmon Kardon radio with CD player.
The Issue I have is the CD skips parts of the track I am playing. It seems to do OK while sitting still listening to music, not so while riding. Is this an issue that can be repaired? Any one else have similar problems?
You can also get better music by getting the I pod interface. It is great and you use the handle bar controls to change songs , adjust volume. Stock Harley part. Listen to your own music , as much as you want.
Is it a "store bought" CD or a compilation disc that you made? What format?
Either home made or store bought. They sound fine playing them like in the shop or in a parking lot, etc. But going down the road No as for Format I'm not sure. I am electronicly challenged and don't know much about these things. Some times if i clean them it seems to help a little. Not to worried about it I may look into getting an I Pod set up and not use the Disks any way. I may look at getting XM Radio as well. Except on long trips (Like days or weeks) I usually dont listen to music any way.

I guess. Thanks for your response I appreciate all input. I always research and ask before I do any thing expensive. Still in the info gathering phase before I make a final decision.
short answer:the HK radio is garbage, replace it with a aftermarket one and get more features, better sound quality and save yourself a lot of headaches.
long answer: try updating your system software and putting a lens cleaner disc through it. if that doesnt help, try re burning the cd. if its a consistent issue on multiple discs , odds are something inside the unit broke, look up Iron Cross Audio. They specialize in repairing and upgrading the HK units for fairly reasonable prices.
I used the Memorex CD lens cleaner on my CD player when it started to skip. It cleared it right up. I have the stock system on a 2009 Street Glide and have had no problems.
