Greetings.. I was wondering how many, if any, put extended bags on a touring bike but kept the stock fender. I have a 16 Street Glide spec. and want to do the bags but kinda want to keep the original fender. If you have done this mod also could you guys post some pics so I can get an idea of what it will look like. I was thinking of doing 4" extended bags on, if that helps.
Thanks in advance.
after looking at the pictures posted by Ridedaddy, I don't think I could do the bags without doing the fender as well. Those TopShop bags and fender look great.
Am looking at the Advan Black Co. Really inexpensive.
Anybody have any experience with these guys.
Reviews say color matches great.
Gotta wonder about the quality though.
Factorymatch would fit the bill but also noticed that Bad Dad also will paint the bags.
Just wondering if they would extend past my V&H High Output slip on's.
I have the V&H ProPipe with DirtyBird 4.5" bags and the pipe didnt so I made a extension. I think BadDad sells slip ons that go with their extended bags.

I believe your asking if they would completely Cover your mufflers from a side view. Meaning do the bags actually extend far enough to cover up a 4.5" muffler when looking at the bike from the side. My first question would be what year is your bike and what model top shop bags do you plan to get? I ask because my 13 and down viper bags seem to have been about 1/4 inch longer than the 14 up vipers. I run Cfr's mufflers so they are 4.5" at the fattest part towards the rear of the bike. The 4.5" muffler does hang slightly lower that the bag bit the muffler can only be seen if looking at it from a level view. So either your head has to be down by the ground or the bike has to be on a lift to see the muffler peaking out from the bottom of the bag.
ridedaddy, what I meant was from the rear. I should have been more clear. My pipes come just, and I mean just, past stock fender on my 16 St.Glide special.
Not sure where they measure for the "extended 5" part.
