talked with a friend today that does performance builds.
Most have heard about the short rods that were mis-machined.
Well he says HD has a letter out acknowledging the fact of the short rods.
And they are going to exhaust current inventory first.
So you get luck of the draw in replacements.
also says some engines have had both long and short rods installed.
If that's true, then no wonder some of you are hearing unexplained noises
in and around the engine.
And some excessive vibration----out of balance
Easy way to find out is a top dead center stop, ran four times on your engine.
Provided rest of machining is accurate.
Just a thought if it's true.
I'm not sure the exact amount.
It was posted here while back but forget the amount.
Guess we need to hear from someone that does know the amount.
But anyways it's a thought.
I have heard sooo many "heard from a friend" and HD has a service bulletin, or sent/sending a letter, etc. So what is the answer to thequestion?? Fact or Fiction? Anything officially posted anywhere? Anyone get this "letter"?
