In 2012 My Son traded in his 04 Road King on a new 2012 Road Glide Ultra.

He made one modification only to the Bike, he added a de-catted header pipe
to it, that is it. He has over 30,000 care free miles on an other wise stock Bike.

Definitely pick the ultra over street glide. Get the one with the pipes so you dont have to buy. You can strip down the ultra for a lot cheaper than you add to a street glide. I think there is a lot of us that now have street glide ultras!

I have a 2012 FLHTK. Has been rock solid in the time I have owned it. I bought it with 5300 miles on it and put about that much on it since. I picked it because of the mid year color special Tequila Sunrise. The prices are tanking on those because of 1. Rushmore. And 2. the new 8 valve motor. Doent bother me at all. I buy em to wear them out.

I've got a 2012 RoadGlide Ultra and no problems. I do know when I added the Big Louie pipes and download to open up the breathing it made a big difference so if you can get one where this mod has been done it saves you some money and gives you some better performance.

C2DJ, consider a automatic plug n play Cobra Power Pro. It checks fuel air mixture 80 times per second. I do not know why others do not consider this great product. And they are compatible from bike to bike with aftermarket exhaust and air cleaners. Check it out.

Just bought my 2012. Can't go wrong. Twin cam been out for a long time now. Add exhaust tuner and a breather and you have plenty of power. I couldn't see 27 grand for a new one. This baby is nice.

Love my `12 FLHTK . Other than regulator it's been a great bike .
That sounds like a good price . My wife was afraid I would wind
up wanting a newer bike after we bought this one a couple years
ago . I have no desire for a newer bike at all .

I've been happy with my 2012 FLHTK. I have 55k on it now. The only problem was the voltage regulator issue. I upgraded my charging system to the high output. The saddlebag lids are a bit of a pain but, I've never had one fly open as previously mentioned.

I'm the same way. The way I see it, if it is comfortable and suits my needs today, it will be comfortable and suit my needs 10 years from now. This is only my second Harley, but my vehicles I drive forever. Not even gettig rid of my Fatboy, it still has a useful purpose. I just wanted something with a little cargo capacity, and a fairing for less than perfect weather and longer trips, and the dealer made the deal WAY too sweet to pass up.

I like to buy vehicles near the end of their model run, best chance of getting a product with the bugs worked out, a '12 should be a good bike, I'd love to have that two tone orange you could get in '12. I love my '13 Ultra Limited, I plan to keep it for a while. Maybe in about 2023 I'll upgrade to a M8 bike. I've improved the front suspension (Progressive Monotubes are great, btw, stock forks are too damn soft, did chrome fork lowers too), done a Fuelmoto headpipe, V&H Monster Rounds and a Powervision, next is some good rear shocks and probably some cams. I prefer the styling over the newer batwing with the vent too. I bought this bike after seeing the new Rushmores, got a good deal, my only regret is the only '13 Limiteds left were black, but hey, black and chrome never go out of style.

If you don't need the latest and greatest I think the '09-'13 bikes are the sweet spot for a great deal on a bike that's 90+% as good as the newer bikes. I don't think you can go too far wrong with a '12 at the right price.
