Want to move the heel peg down a couple inches, but I'm having trouble.
Is that bolt holding the shifter normally hard to loosen?
I've given that bolt a go with some mighty strength and that dang thing still won't loosen.
I'm assuming that bolt is like any other (counter-clockwise) to loosen.
Any suggestions?
you must remove the bolt fully then you can turn the shifter on the spline to get it to the position you want.then replace the bolt ,tighten and wa-la done.
Bolt has loctite on it. Use a small propane torch, like the one you use in plumbing projects to sweat copper pipe. Heat up the bolt and then it will melt the loctite and let you take out the bolt with normal force applied.
definately remove the bolt all the way...meaning have it on the shop floor
there is a groove in the spline that will not allow the shifter peg to be removed until the bolt is out.
Did this myself this past weekend. The heel lever is the first one to come off. Mine was very tight. Keep in mind that the bolt is upside down so you will need to push your wrenchinto the bike if the handle is facing the front tire. It will take some force to get it to move.
