So when i am riding by myself i have no issue with the stereo. But when my wife rides and we have the headsets on I get a lot of static and no audio. I cant even hear it and it just goes in and out. So one day I just turned the radio on with the bike started and radio was fine, I plugged in my headset and it started messing up. Could there be a short?

 

If the radio operates correctly by itself and has issues when the headset is plugged in I would say the problem lies in the headset. I would try a different headset first to confirm the issue.
