The premium ride shocks and the changes in the 2017 models at least shows that Harley is paying attention to us and working on improvements. Lots of aftermarket options but at least it is heading the right direction.
Who out there is using these shocks and what is your opinion of them. Are they a noticible improvement over the stock air shocks? I have a 2013 RK, am 6'2" 230lbs, and am looking for a little more comfortable ride. I have tried adjustinhg the pressure in the air shocks but the ride is still a little jarring. I can buy a set of the premium rides online for around $450. Is there better options out there in the same price range. Thanks for any input you may have.
replaced air shocks on my 15 limited with 12" hd premium...very nice improvement. me: 6ft 265 lbs. Also work great 2 up...no complaints here.
Damn Smitty eat a cheeseburger or somethin' so the shock makers can make a little $$ off you!
I have darn sure wasted a load of cash chasing perfection that can't be had. The hand adjustable ones on the 2017 seem different than ones we tried before. They do make a difference when you adjust them. Wife and I are both happy with the 2017 ride.
Cheese burger won't help weight with in 5 pounds of when I first entered boot camp. PT works if you use it.
They are ok but not value for money. In Germany we have some better options available for about 800Euro made to your needs. The spring will be made to your weight wich is of course allways a compromize.

Unless your load never changes these are fine. After a while you figure out how many turns of preload but what a pain.
I ride solo, when i got the bike i assumed it was set up for me, bike had bags off tranfer of some items from previous bike etc.
I rode it almost a year before taking off my bags to clean the inside of them etc. and clean and check the shocks. they were set for a 250 lb rider. I set them for my wt 150 lbs.
What a difference, the stock hand adjustable are good just make sure they are set correctly, for one or two up.
My ride feels so good after riding it for about 10 months with the wrong setting.
I find no need to upgrade to any after market shock.
About 30k miles with the 13" Premium Adjustable shocks, mainly solo, I'm 180lbs, noticeable improvement and relatively inexpensive compared to other offerings.
I ride primarily two up /tour pac , if I go with the 13" does the seat height necessarily go up one inch with the HD shocks ?
The general consensus seems that the HD shocks are a reasonable upgrade over the air shocks without spending a fortune ? Ebay looks to be in the $200/250 range .
