Question about seat modification. I am sending my stock SGS seat to MCC for rider and passenger modifications. I am looking at changing riding position also but not sure if want lowered or moved back. Looking for pro/cons and advice
Call them to discuss. That's what I did before I sent them my Ultra Limited seat. I had them add memory foam and narrow the seat for easier flat footing. Over the phone they offered some suggestions. They did a great job and the price was VERY reasonable.
I have used MCC, they do great work at a very fair price. Plus, they do not try to steer you towards the more expensive options if not needed.
When I called, it was pretty much, Think this is the mod I want. After a few questions, they recommended a certain mod, cheaper than what I thought I wanted.
I've considered it before and now that I have a new bike, I considered them again. I was quoted $225 for the super narrow mod, push me back a little bit and trim the passenger pad so it wasn't so bulky looking. With shipping both ways I'm in it for $275 or so. I can get a new C&C for just a little more ($330 shipped) that looks much better and gets rave reviews. I'd rather just get the new seat...

No disrespect for MCC. They do good work. But have you consider someone local. There are skilled people all over that can do what you need done. Having someone local you can ride over sit on the seat go over your needs. Get it right. If your moding a seat then it is clear you have some issue that need to be resolved.
Years ago HD dealer gave me a card. I called the man and he did outstanding work at a very fair price. I have sense had him do some work on two others I keep as spares.
I really love the comfort of my HD Tall Boy seat and the look of the cover. But the pillion is huge. I'll be making a ride-in appointment with MCC very soon. They reworked the Sundowner I had on my old bike and I was very happy with it.
