That's the Vivid Black/Black Ice Pearl and yes it has a purplish hue to it.

yupper, wonder if its an over powering purple or more like a color changing in different lighting

It changes colors depending on the light.

I own this model, black on top, black ice on bottom, I go back and forth as far as liking the color, in some lighting it looks real good, but then sometimes it's just a lot of purple. Then I ride it and don't care anymore. Love the bike, mine is a 2010, limited.

I don't think it's overpowering. But I don't mind the purple. Its more of a hue. The whole panel does not turn purple. Just part of it.

I looked at a Black Ice Pearl Dyna. It was owned by a girl and hardly had any miles on it. Could have got it for a song but couldn't get over the purple. Was afraid I would get tired of it. That being said, if it were two-tone with black I am sure it would look much nicer.

I got a 103 bike and am much happier with it vs a 96 bike. Just rides better. Crisper throttle response.
