Default handlebars

I'm thinking on trying something to save a little cash and want your thoughts. Khromewerks has a new handlebar for FLHT's.... -300505 1" +2 Taller Sweeper Bar for FLHT M.S.L. $63.99 (Requires 3" over clutch cable) and was wondering if I could drill the bottom of the bars for internal wiring and then use the newly released '08 HD part number top clamp that fits under the radios to prevent any cracking/breaking. Watcha all think?

CAUTION... Depending on how thick the bars start with... Normal 1" bars are thinner then Chubbies and I have seen ton's of handlebars crack\break by doing this... (I'm been an insurance appriaser for M\C's for over 20 years now)... In fact just got through doing an appraisal last week in Palm Springs fwhere the handlebars broke...

But folks do it all the time....

Ya spend $20K+ on your Putt and saving a few $$$ may not be worth it???

Yeah, I don't know if I want to drill them out, but will surely check thickness before I did....I'll probably just leave well enough alone as the wiring is not really seen on the dressers as much as the other models with open fronts.

These new Khromwerks bars look pretty nice.
Do they give you more pullback? Are they wider?

I have wild 1's chubbies and installationcalls for a one piece clamp because of the holes in the bars...rather than the two stock clamps...I think you'll need chubbie bars for inside wirring.

From the website, they look wider. I know that they are 2" higher, not sure about the pullback. I should have them middle of next week and I will post pics, etc. Just picked up my clutch cable and gaskets that I'll need.
