Bought a '95 Low Rider Convertible in 2001. Traded it 4 months later for a '01 Road King. I traded that for a 2004 EGC in 2004 and now have a 2007 EGC. While I liked riding on the Dyna, the Touring bikes just fit me(and wife) so much better.
I had a 95 Dyna Wide Glide and traded it in on the Ultra.
Never looked back. It was fast tho. Had a 95" Sputhe stroker motor in it. But the extra comfort and reliability in the Ultra sold me. Besides, my wife sat on the Ultra. 'Nuff said
I bought a new 1999 Dyna Low-Rider and thought it was the greatest. Sold it and layed off riding about 5 years. Bought a 2007 Black Pearl Street Glide Friday, 5/18 and have 1150 miles on it already. It is without a doubt the finest motorcycle I have ever ridden. Comfort, style and performance all in one package. Stage 1 coming soon, then I'll see you on the road!
I had an 03 Lowrider for 2 years before I got my EG Standard. I get the occasional yearning for my Dyna again, but not enough to give up my Glide! Wife feels the same way!
I had a 1994 Wide Glide bought the 04 Road glide, figured i keep both bikes but then never wanted to ride the wide glide again so I sold it!!! It's THAT GOOD!
MY ORIGINAL PLAN WAS TO GET A STREET GLIDE BUT FIGURED I WOULD GO A LITTLE SMALLER FOR MY FIRST BIKE. I LOVE THE DYNA BUT MY HEART DESIRES THE STREET GLIDE SO I PLAN ON TRADING IT IN, IN A YEAR OR TWO......GOODIDEA OR BAD ? WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK.
07bobber, that's a good plan. Test ride both the street glide and the road glide before you decide. I'm not sure if the faring is mounted to the frame on the street glide like it is on the road glide. It's a huge difference.
Started on a 75 Iron Head Sporty, Went to a 84 FXR and rode the hell out of that rubber mount for years. Got married on that FXR (literally) and thought I'd never sell it.2 seasons of riding a Bagger and I knew I'd never go back. I sold it and do not miss it. I'm glad for all the great times I had on it and the sporty, but I' don't plan to go back to a smaller skinny ride any time soon...
Back in 2003 I bought a 100th Anniversary Dyna Super Glide. Enjoyed the heck outta that bike, it was really fun to ride. I wanted something that would be a bit more comfortable on long trips for both me and the wife. When the 2007 touring models came out with the 96 CI engine and the 6-speed tranny I rented an Ultra for the weekend. Liked the ride but the wife was not crazy about the full fairing. Took a Road King Classic for a test drive and fell in love (and the wife , and I, prefered the look).
I would never go back!
Here are a couple of pics of my old Super Glide that I traded in on the Road King:
