I sure hope I made the correct decision.....
Just ordered WO572 14 inch apes and the Magnum black pearl cable kit.
It was very hard deciding what to get 12 or 14.....black pearl or the sterling chromite.
Great choice. I went 12 originally and did 14 on new bike as have plenty of others. I also prefer the black pearl, even with chrome wheels and front end. The chromite cables just look off to me.
dont know how tall you are but I am 5'10'' and I like my bars at or just below shoulder height and I also like the bars a little vertical to the forks . My wideglide I had 16's and my roadking I put 14's on 2'' pull back risers. WG I sit upright and the RK I kinda lay back a little for the long haul
I just found W0582 12" chrome for my RK for two fiddy. I went that way so I wouldn't have to change the cables. I also have heated grips, they came with a 6" extention I will have to use when I run the left side cables.
return them if you dont like just mock them up when you get them i went through i think 5 bars before i found mine.. i was lucky a buddy had the same brand on his king 14's so i rode it for 15 miles to see... i went with the 12's but i hear the carlinies run tall...didnt like the 14's put my hands too high... my seat also sits me back and down from stock
Wow ordered from revzilla yesterday morning. Came today.
After seeing them in person and holding up to the bike I think they will be ok.
I had carlini beach bars and then went to 10 inch LA choppers twin peaks. Big difference in slow speed handling. The 10 inch just looked bad in my opinion.
Thus the 14's..... I am 5'11" by the way.
I'm 5'6" and have 14's so I would recommend 14's for about anyone. Magnum makes the best cables and hoses, highly recommend them. I would get some spray silicone from Walmart and liberally lube the inside of the clutch cable and throttle cables, but especially the clutch cable. When I put the clutch cable in mine I could barely work the clutch, until I sprayed silicone in the lever end then it all smoothed out. Same with the throttle cables. Don't use oil as it can soak through the braiding and discolor the housing.
