Thanks that is my man cave. I have my bike and Jeep CJ in there with a closet for riding gear, bathroom and my office that I work out of. Oh yeah a Buck wood stove and 55 inch flat screen! I built it a little at a time over 6 years.
Once you have them, you will realize you can't live without them. Mine are slightly above my shoulders and to me it feels like I'm sitting in a recliner. I have personally always loved the look and I was more then excited to find the ride was just as nice. I am 6ft 4in and the factory bars had me leaning over causing back pain like the others have mentioned. I do believe you will be happy with the purchase. My option is that bikes with apes stand out in a crowed (in a good way) and I find myself looking at bikes that don't have them a little differently.
Had apes on my first 2 Harleys now have road glide I'm putting apes on. This time goin 14s so no cable or brake line swap. Just some wiring extensions. Had 16 on my night train. 14 on my ironhead. They feel great. Get you in that sitting up straight and into the backrest. Without em I lean on the bars slightly. Head also sits more straight vs up just a bit due to leaning forward slightly,
Couple the proper height apes for you along with a riders backrest and life is good, especially when you are old and beat up. Problem is there are so many choices to be had but so few places to try before you buy. Wild Ones make many bars and they are great to talk to, helping with your decision or maybe even cause you to look at other manufacturers. Also their website gives you a pretty good idea of what the bars you are interested in give good pictures along with dimensions.
Factory 47 bars as are some others and quite pricey. On the other hand I would not buy bars that are poorly made with no heft to them. Also as mentioned don't let cable length determine your buying decision. Figure out what you want, then go with quality cables, such as Magnum Shielding. As always, JMO.
