ok i just got my first 1k on my 07 Rk and it needs sound like a harley i'm looking slip on's but which ones and will the bike need to be remapped when i do
Go to any Rally or just sit by the Service Door on Saturday at your local Dealer and listen for what you like and see, no Remap Required for just Pipes
I have Sampson drag fishtails. Very load. I love them. Some say that they are the worst for performance, but I haven't noticed any difference at all. If you do the slipons only, you might not need a remap. But, if you do get a screaming eagle or arlen ness air cleaner, I have heard you will then need one. I, myself, have a '05 rk custom with a carb. I had to rejet the carb when I added the pipes and the AC, and would think that if you did both, you would need a remap as well. But, some of the '07 guys will chime in here soon enough.
Have fun with the bike, that is why you bought it. And a BIG WELCOME to the forum from Albuquerque. Ask all the questions you can think of, there are a lot of very knowledgable and helpful people on this forum. BUT be very careful, this place is highly addicting. Post some pics of your bike when you get a chance, we all want to see them. Stock or not!!
The SE pipes are very mellow and only a bit louder than stock, like was suggested before go hang out at your local dealership on a Saturday or go to any event and listen you will find what you are looking for.
I just heard the vance and hines ovals the other day for the first time, they sounded great I thought, not to loud, but not quiet either, just to my liking anyway. I think thats what I gonna get for my 06RG.
