Default Information for prospective Chopped Tour Pak purchasers

Maybe this is old news. I just received a Chopped Tour Pak with an April 07manufacturing date. The P&A Catalog states that the lock and two keys comes with it. Mine did not. I called the vendor from whomI purchased it. They informed me that a bulletin came out in March stating that HD would no longer supply the locks with the Chopped Tour Paks. So if you order one be sure and order the lock separately.

By the way the price was not reduced when the lock waseliminated as part of the Tour Pak. It is only a $24 part but you think they would havereduced the price by that much.

Mine was received in December and it had no lock nor keys either. I was okay with that, because what would I do with a lock and key that didn't match the bike? I ordered a set separately that was keyed to the bike's ignition and saddlebags, along with some other small paraphernalia needed to install the lock. See the parts manual for a breakdown of what's needed, as neither the TP nor the lock/key kit had everything necessary to get everything together. My dealer said they had to order all these small parts separately every time they ordered a new TP for someone, which seems mindless.

Just installeda lock and supporting hardware today for a tour pak. As stated the cost of the parts won't break the bank, but you would think for the cost of the tour pak those little items (cost about $6.00) should be included minus the keyed lock. Total cost including the lock wasabout $26.00.

List 53617-85 Lock Guide $2.25
90686-92 Cam Hook $2.00
84850-92 Jam Nut $1.50
53641-02 Thin Washer $.30
53848-00 Keyed Lock $20.00

They now have a part number for the whole lock set up. It is53194-07.$19.20 at Chicago Harley. It is too new a part to show up in their on line parts search so you have to phone your order in on it.
