Stage 1 question
No, you can do it anytime! Buttttt if you don't want to void the factory warranty than yes, wait until expires. Unless you do not care....
There is a double standard with most Harley dealers, if they do the work, you have a factory warranty, if you do the work, Harley reserves the option to void your warranty.

Man......So crisp. You'll see......Don't wait.
fact/ opinion
1.) you have a 2 year factory warranty, unlimited miles.
( so maybe leave it and ride out the warranty)
2.) only HDMC can change the terms of your warranty, not the dealer or any 3rd party- the dealer is usually an LLC, not a part of HDMC
Post #3 could not be more wrong
(letting someone add a computer defeat device ( commonly a "tuner) is the quickest way to void it)
3.) some dealers say "if you buy from us"
( get that in writing as the are offering a "supplemental warranty" with this in writing you can go to court.....but what happens if you are 1000 miles from home? pay for it and hope to get money back or truck broken bike home?
I do stage 1's* after the warranty- if something breaks it is on them
*or easily reversible and non-traceable...sine the 90's HD has logged modifications to bikes brought in for dealer service
so there are some facts ( and my opinions)- make the choice which is best for you
