Buy what you will - it is your decision as to what works for you. I have several and have had many, each has it's own style and personality. The 2013 and 2017 will never be apples to apples.
Wish you years of riding enjoyment.
Congrats on buying what you want. If you're happy with the price, then it's worth it.
No, you don't need gap insurance. Gap ins pays the difference between market value and what you owe, if you owe more than market value. You will not owe more than market, so no on the gap.
if the Gap insurance is at the wholesale/auction/black book price you should consider...I have no idea how it is now but with my Geico long ago it only was at black book value.....could be a good question....
buy what you like, Harley's are an investment the retail value doesn't drop as fast as the depreciation....check you'll see. You can get leather bags, hard bags, it don't matter....once you get it you'll never be done changing it anyway...FLHRC, soft bags, basket weave trim, same bike as a FLHR....just trim.....I have both hard and soft bags, I live on an island.....I spend more time polishing chrome than you could EVER imagine......but I also love what I have......

smart decision......the GAP insurance is only a one time fee...probably only $100 bucks or so?
my 2012 only has 2500 miles on it....I get offers all day long to give me $15k....add in all the extras we dump on a bike, plus the love that has gone into it for polishing and upkeep......it's worth every bit of $15K
I don't know if this pertains to you, or not, but i insured my bike, when new, and still carry a monetary value for replacement. If my bike is totaled, or stolen , i get paid what i stated i wanted it insured for replacement. Some Ins. co. don't offer this, but i thought i'd throw it out there
