Default Primary Gasket

At 5k I put theHB-125 chain tensioner on my Street Glide andhave had a slight leak (one drip spot)off and on. It is most notiable that I see it when it finally gets hot hear in Virginia and the bike sits over night in the garage. Yesterday I put the bike on my jack stand after riding so maybe I could tell where it was dripping from since it was would hold it up vertically. It looks like there is some weaping on at the primary cover gasket right under the derby cover. I have another gasket and it is time to replace the primary oil. So before I start, is there some technique to keep it from leaking again? Is there a better gasket? I always tighten the bolts to the low end of the torque value and if it leaked and more torque. When I saw the leak the first time I added more torque and the leak disappeared through the fall, winter and spring, but is back now that the temperatures are in the 90s. Thanks for your assistance.

Make sure your sufaces are clean, don't overfill I also put a little teflon tape on the drain plug, but don't overtighten, mine leaking from the drain plug and thought it was the gasket, so clean surfaces, inspect, use new gaskets, a little teflon and you should be good to go. Good Luck

I agree with what is said in this post. Make sure your torque is per the service manual. I purchased a torque wrench which comes in handy. Definitely make sure you follow the tightening pattern. You can use teflon tape to help seal the screws or Hylomar Thread Sealer, both will work well. I use the Hylomar Thread Sealer that I purchased at my local dealer. It seals the screw and also remains flexible (doesn't harden like other thread sealers).I also make sure I clean both surfaces thoroughly with a clean rag to make sure there is no sand, dirt, etc. that will compromise the seal.Try these, and if it still leaks don't hesitate to ask us and we'll consider other options. Good luck!

You got it right. Also, IMO... as a reminder to us all, to not put anything on the gaskets as it may end up in your oil...
