Default clutch cable

Well another clutch cable bit the dust. Thinking about going to the dealer, these aftermarket ones I have gotten don't last. Guess you get what you pay for. Is Barrett a good cable?

Barnett is the first name in clutches

I paid $65 for +4" recently

what kind of trouble do you keep having?- one of my clutch cables is 64 years old.
as long as the clutch mechanism is working properly and the cable is lubed/teflon lined, should last for a long long time

Keeps snapping off the ends (original with 100K & the second with 20K). The second one was an off the wall cheap off of amazon. But I ride in the rain, cold & hot. Plus I don't think this last one was teflon coated. Will try a Barrett. Thanks

I had a problem on my 2013 FLHTK. I had always to fasten the clutch cable and the discs were burned at 27'500 km !

I changed for a Barnett clutch kit and a Barnett cable.

They told me the problem by the Harley cable is known and comes from the collapsing of the cable collapsing. They told me it will never arrive again with their cable.

Let's see... the cable was number 101-30-10046 for an original length

Toby,

Why not Craigslist another stock one. They're cheap with all the ape hanger conversions. 10 or 15 bucks is the norm. Stock cables last a long time.

Cables need lubed every year (unless the coated ones, but I would still lube with spray silicone) or problems can occur. I have Magnum Shielding also and are outstanding cables. But they must be lubed with spray silicone when you install and again after using them a little while, especially the clutch cable.
