Default Pinging with my 107 ci

I have a 07 FLHX wifh cams etc and a 107 big bore. I have a PV with wide band O2 sensors and target tune. I get pinging when the bike ET gets above 230 F in 1st when stopped in traffic and in 6th between 2500 and 3000 rpm. Tried the quick tune and changed the by -3 and increased the fuel +3. Still get pinging.

who did the base tune. Was ignition tables done correctly. If it came from fuel moto, they will be glad to tweak your tune. What are you A/F ratios in the crusing rpm range in the A/F table. I found in the past that if I add some fuel in the crusing range it will help with the pinging. Pinging at 230 engine temp is not normal. I never see any pinging until my front head temps start going up around 280+

I have sent the tune and logs to Fuel Moto but so far no luck. I just sent another log today. Before my 96 ci would ping but only after the ET was 300 or over. Runs decent until it heats up. Tried different plugs etc. but no change. Run numerous auto tunes but they do not adjust timing. Kind of becoming a real pain that nothing seems to make any difference.

Retard the timing by about 3 percent, Maybe 4

I agree with the others about the timing being the culprit but just let me ask the obvious, are you confident in your fuel octane wise?

Pinging at idle?,
Do you see oil in the throttle body?
What is the Knock Control minimum map set to?

You need to have it tuned on a dyno to get it right to be honest. Sorry, I'm sure that wasn't what you wanted to hear but it's the truth.

I thought about this on the way into work and you're right. Pinging at or just off idle something is very wrong. Intake/exhaust leaks should also be checked (excess heat buildup) but I think it may be time to take it to a good dyno guy. It shouldn't be doing that.

the power vision during auto tune can retard timing when detonation is detected in the ignition tables but it will not advance timing. but you must use the winpv software to make sure that it is active during auto tuning. ignition and fuel most likely needs to be tweaked.

No not pinging at idle. When I accelerate from a stop light I get pinging at around 2500 rpm. the same if I am in 6th at around 2500 rppm. I have retarded the timing by 3 in quick tune mode, so I will try to up it to 4 and see what happens.
