No, doesn't affect things. As you will gather from some of the comments above, the way to use these things is very lightly inflated, so your butt still rests on the seat, however the air cushion supports those other parts of you that don't.

I had an airhawk and didn't like the feel of it at all. I seemed to move around too much on the seat. Maybe I had it over inflated based upon what I've been reading on this thread. Sold it on this forum. I just ordered the Harley Pad from Surdyke for $72.50 + $10.00 shipping.

If it's over inflated, yes. If your running just enough air in it than no. I like most over inflated it when I first got it in anticipation of a trip. After I played with it a bit I got it figured out.

I only use it on long/hot rides of 400miles or more but it stows away easily so I always throw it in on trips now.

Pro pad , it's the same as the HD circulator lad but wayyyy cheaper, I have one for front and rear for less than$100 look at eastern performance cycles....I like it better than my airhawk. The air hawk feels too wobbly...and yes I know how to adjust it...I sell the medical version ...it's ok on very long trips butt, the pro pads woks equally well. And prevents swampass.

Alaskan Leather Sheepskin.
I have two of them, one sheared and one longhair.
I tried the airhawk, didn't like it.

The pro pad is the best i have had to date, and i have owned the Airhawk pad along with the HD seat pads. I have the danny grey buttcrack seat and after 4 or 5 hours my *** is on fire and nothing solved that on a long ride. With the pro pad it doesn't get hot and never flattens out. Its a medical grade gel guaranteed no to deform or break down. Last season I switched to a new seat for long rides this is the 6th seat on this bike. As far as seats go i think i finally found the solution, and for the propad i just let the wife use it if she wants to.
