Default Lowering Brackets ?'s

I have an '09 EG Classic. I am thinking about lowering it about an inch. Has anyone tried these type of lowering brackets? Pros or cons on them?

I had some on my dyna for a while. Since they put your shocks at more of an angle you might have to add more preload. You could also find 12" shocks off a street glide. They are usually cheap.

Somebody posted a pic of a broken swing arm, caused by these.[looked like the extra leverage from these caused the break.] I had a pair on a 93 Classic years ago-first ride I got a major high speed wobble on a sweeping curve. Took them back off the same day!

Thanks for the info.
They looked like an inexpensive way to see if I would like the lower ride.
I may try something else. The shorter shocks sound like the way to go. I will check around with some friends to see if they have a set laying around.

This is the best way to go, you can find these air shocks on Craigslist for $50, or buy 12" aftermarket spring shocks, such as Burley slammer or Progressive.

Default Lowering blocks

If you're going to use lowering blocks, buy a quality kit that maintains the factory shock angle. I used the LA Choppers kit. Very beefy, strong kit.

I wouldn't call them 'inexpensive', they are cheap! Not a good idea at all IMHO. They are prone to cause swingarm failure on older bikes, I'm not sure about later bikes, which have a better design. Some touring bikes come with 12" shocks and others have 13", but owners swap from one to the other all the time, so you may find a pair in the HDF classifieds. Worth a look!

Yeah this!
I have the same ones on my '09 RKC, no issues at all, I'm 220 mainly ride solo, but bike is setup like an EGC, tourpack, fairing and passenger from time to time. Would eventually like to get 12" shocks...

have used block on my last 3 bikes to lower then 1" and have had zero issues with them in approx 80k miles.
I don't remember off hand what the difference is, but they say the cheap china made one are prone to crack. buy the ones made in the USA, I think it was something about the stopping block that is on them being different. My set was still only about $20 new.
I love the was the bike sits with these on it compared to stock. Some people say it changes the ride comfort, but I can't tell a difference. Solo rider 200#
