Default Big bore rd king
Ok so installed 100" S&S big bore kit , jugs and pistons On my 88" carb engine and now have ticking from front cyl. Sounds like valve train,rocker? Was able to turn pushrods when finished with bolting head on... any ideas? Thanks kevin

Adjustables or solid pushrods?
If adjustable, what did you set the preload at?
New lifters?
Did you install Rock-Outs?

Rock Outs are an insert that goes into the rocker assembly to eliminate noise from the rocker shaft from banging into the bolt:

No I haven't. Didn't make noise before had engine apart, and ticks all rims. They do look helpful

Do the inserts still allow bolts to fit in rocker shafts? To hold them in place?

They are a light press fit. Very easy install.
What cams are you running? Some are noisier than others. Also, if you are using aftermarket cams with stock pushrods, the preload on the lifters may not be set deep enough and that may be where the noise is coming from.

The same bolts that hold down the rocker supports draw the Rockout inserts down into the hole, filling the gap and locking the shaft in place.
