Default Ape hanger install question

I have 2016 street glide. I want to put 16 inch kst mayhems on it. Per kst 'S website I don't need a throttle by wire extension because there's enough stock throttle by wire to fit 16" apes. Has anyone installed 16's and or know if this is true? Is it bango tight? Aside from the wire extensions and cable extensions is there anything else I need to get? How hard is it to do myself? I did 14 inch apes on my 2010 dyna but it had a clutch cable and I didn't have to replace it. This street glide has a hydraulic clutch.
Any help, tips n tricks, knowledge of the install and wire questions would be really appropriated.

I put 16s on my '13 RK and yes I did need the TBW extension. Take your time, write everything down, take some pics and you'll be fine doing them yourself. The hardest part is pairing the TBW extension with the throttle side wires in the bars if you internally wire them. Other than that was a piece of cake. I have a cable clutch so I can't answer your question in regards to that.

Oh, and make sure you have a service manual.

Brother you're comparing apples to oranges. The new Rushmore bikes come equipped with longer wires and cables than ours do.
I've read where guys have done up to 16" bars on the new SGS without changing anything but I haven't seen it first hand.

Well there ya go.

Had no idea they did that on the later bikes. Sounds like an idea that could have been rolled out earlier. So why do do dealers still rob you blind on ape installs?

Ha that's an easy one. They're in the business of makin money off of folks that don't know any better or folks too lazy to do it themselves.
The newer bikes have fewer wires to run as well. Makes wiring them a breeze.

I called kst customs. He said I don't need a throttle by wire extension. I ordered the wire extensions through them with the bars. Now where to get a hydraulic clutch and brake line. I don't have abs so I should only need the upper brake like right? Thanks again.

When I did yaffee 10 MBB on my SGS, I used the namz 8" TBW extension. Running internal the stock TBW barely made it out of the bars so I was glad I had the extension ready.

KST should know and you likely have great advice from them, but on my 10" MBB install I'm sure glad I had the extension.

Post up some pics when your done.

Been so long since I did the install I had to go look what I used. It wasn't the TBW extension, but rather this extension that I needed to use: Namz 8" CAN Circuit Handlebar Wiring Extension Harness for 2011 and Newer Harley-Davidson models - NHCX-J08

Harley sells those extensions and if my memory is right they're only $20.

I got the magnum Shield brake line and hydraulic clutch line. I've read and heard I should get a super clamp and polyurethane bushings. Anyone have recommendations on brands? I saw some reviews on like the Arlen ness brand that didn't seem very impressive.
