Default Derby Cover Gasket

I got a new derby cover. Black for my new black primary cover.
The derby cover Part Number 25700388 fits fine I reused my gasket which is the orange ring style. But I'm getting a leak around the derby cover.

I assume I need the pancake style. So I bought one on amazon but it doesn't fit the 5 holes. It fits the old derby cover and primary cover but the new one is just a little larger.

Anyone know what gasket I need to get?

Don't know what year your bike is.
On my 15 RGS it has an orange O-ring. When I exchanged my Derby Cover I had to dry it off pretty good in order to stay in the cover. Once that was done I didn't have any leaks.

When it has been on and leaks, I would dry everything off to allow the gasket to adhere to it.

Good luck

If there is a groove on the back of the derby cover you need the o ring. If it's flat you need to paper style pancake 5-hole gasket. You may have gotten the wrong gasket or a poor copy off of Amazon too.

There is a grove. The ring fit in just fine. I took it back off and its still in the grove.

FYI my bike is a 2011.

If there is a Groove then you need the O-ring not the paper gasket. Try putting some oil on the O-ring or Vaseline and it'll stick in the groove better and seal any leaks. Again if it's not an oem it could be a different diameter or a poor copy.

If the cover has a groove for the orange rubber gasket you must be sure the groove, rubber gasket and primary surface are very clean and dry. Take your time seating the gasket into the groove until it will stay on its own. Tighten the screws down in a star pattern. I do it in two steps. First to just snug then evenly tight using a torque wrench. I don't remember the torque numbers but its not much, inch pounds as opposed to foot pounds.

I reused the OEM one that was on the old derby cover. I will try to but it back on.

The derby cover is a HD OEM slim line cover.

make sure you wipe off excess oil off inside derby cover and on the primary too. dont over tighten the torx screws. i think its only like 19 inch lbs or something. if you have a grove in derby cover and u use the rubber gasket that comes stock from original derby cover, you shouldn't have a leak.

Just go to the dealer & purchase the pancake gasket! Problem solved without the headache.

His derby cover is designed for the O-ring.. The pancake gasket won't work with his cover.
