I have accumulated a number of old helmets. I have been trashing them as they get replaced but I still have my first Arai full face helmet I bought in 1983......I have not worn it since 1985. My wife says she wants to turn them into planters.....I'll post up some pictures if this does happen.

I got my new lid today, it's a HJC IS 5 with a Bell Bubble Shield. My wife said it looks like Gazzo's helmet from the Flintstones, LOL

Had to tweak it a little to get rid of the hot spot on my forehead, all is good with it now. Took it out for a spin, an I really like the bubble (first time I've tried one).. it's far enough away from your nose and mouth to not fog up when breathing out. - I guess time will tell when I get it out in colder weather though.

I did move the HD chromed bubbled sticker that I put on my old helmet.

I like that old school vintage look, and this one actually has a built in sunshield.

I have a collection of old helmets in a box in the attic that have been there for years.
Every time I walk by them I think I need to get rid of them.

I would think the same should apply to motorcycle helmets.
If someone is stupid enough to pull a helmet out of the trash and wear it....

I say let natural selection run its course....

I see no reason to replace a helmet after 5 years just because the helmet companies say so. The styrofoam will not break down over that time. Unless a helmet is visibly damaged or dropped I see no need to replace it every 5 years

I replace every 4-5 years because they get nasty as hell inside. They just get tossed after sitting around a while and its clear it won't be used again.
